THE 2014 HAVANA DAYDREAMIN' NEWS JUST KEEPS GETTING BIGGER!

We are pleased to announce that there will be a FRIDAY NIGHT (Jan. 31) Meet & Greet and Private Concert with Tall Paul and Quincy Yeates of Ramajay Intercoastal at the Social Room of the Holiday Inn in Rock Island from 8 to 11 p.m.!!!

Here's how it will work - admission will be $10, with the first 52 receiving a playing card which will ...be their 'ticket' for a 50/50 drawing: half of the admission charge going to cover RI's Friday night hotel stay and the other half to the winner. Anyone after 52 will pay $10, just won't get a 50/50 chance. So that's your incentive to Get There Early if you want in on a chance to win money! (Any admission income beyond the hotel stay cost will go toward Honor Flight, the HDD Charity for 2014.)

Tall Paul & Quincy will have merchandise available -- CDs, as well as Ramajay Intercoastal T-shirts and CDs.

AND ... it's BYOB and bring your own snacks! No alcohol of food costs for you that night! Can't beat that!

All HDD tickets that include the PreParty have been pulled from all HyVees.
All HDD tickets that include the PreParty that were available via online purchase is no longer available online.
    BUT ...
If you are waiting until the absolute last possible minute to get an HDD PreParty ticket and did not do so by the early Monday morning deadline, there is ONE last possible option.

You MUST email the club treasurer Kathleen Nesseler (kger777@msn.com) with your name, # of tickets, and arrangement for payment by 6 P.M. TODAY (Monday, Jan. 27). Those tickets will be left at a PreParty Will-Call. Remember, you must have an HDD event ticket ($20) to get a PreParty ticket ($5).
After 6 p.m. today, there will be absolutely no possible way to purchase a PreParty ticket. The club MUST put in a food order, thus the need for an advance ticket purchase number. PreParty tickets will not be available at the door.

    Hello Phlock,

I just wanted to say a few words about this years HDD event coming up this Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014. As you know, this event doesn't get put on by itself,takes over 250 volunteers and countless hours working out the details so we can have a very successful event year after year. If it weren't for the volunteers our club would not have this event, we wouldn't be able to give the thousands of dollars out to local charities like we do year after year. Our club wouldn't be a club if it weren't for volunteers, we need people like yourself to help out even if it's for just 1 hour.  If you are able to volunteer please let Kelly Miles know so we can get you in a time slot. All you have to do is contact QCPH@yahoogroups.com and we will get your name on the list.

This event needs your help, we need people to help on Friday during the day starting at 9 a.m. at the club house. We will be loading several trailers with our stage props, and all the other items that we use for this event. I will be down at the club house well before 9  so if you can help us out in any way please help us out we really do appreciate it. After we get the trailers loaded we will then go to the River Center in Davenport to set up the stage and all other areas for the event. The more people we have the less time it takes and we can enjoy the rest of the evening doing what we do -- relaxing. I know that people work during the day and have other things going on but like I said if you can help please give us an hour or two, we really do appreciate it and after all, this is your club, it's the members who make it what it is and what it will be.

Tear down will start Sat. night after the event, meaning, if the 50/50 event is over we will take the signs down and if the raffle is done we will take stuff down for that too and etc. If we can get all of the stuff tore down to include the stage and possibly loaded in the trailers then Sunday morning won't be so hard to finish loading into the trailers and take back to the clubhouse. So again we need help getting all of this done so we can  sit down and relax and maybe watch some football.

    Thank you in advance,
    Willy Fink

THIS JUST IN on the HDD PREPARTY ...
Ticket sales for the 2014 HDD PreParty already put it as the second-biggest HDD PreParty, the HDD celebrating its 10th anniversary this year!
AND, it's threatening to be the biggest -- with one day left of PreParty ticket sales! Still waiting on to get reports of sales from 9 Quad-Cities HyVees, so we we could be very very very close already.
The biggest was in Year 6 -- 325 in attendance -- to hear Nadirah, Utley & Doyle, so that was a very big year. This year maybe, just maybe, could top that. If you don't yet have a ticket, get one today -- today's the last day of PreParty ticket sales!
Entertainment will be Tall Paul and Quincy Yeates of Ramajay Intercoastal from 1 to 2 and Jim Hoehn -- Wisconsin trop-rock sensation and budding bags player as evidenced by his Phins To the West tournament performance in 2013. Jim will be playing from 2 to 5 to get us ready for Havana Daydreamin' 2014 from 6 p.m. to midnight!
And the PreParty is just one floor up from the HDD event! You can see the HDD floor plan from the PreParty windows!

Some Havana Daydreamin' Did You Knows ...

Over the past six years, the average amount raised in the 50/50 at the Quad City Parrot Head Club's major fundraiser is ... drum roll ... $4,784! That's an average of $2,392 to the winner!

-- In the 9 years of HDD, the 50/50 has taken in $32,903 with half of that going to charity.

-- The median take of all 9 years is $4,600! That's some serious 50/50 ticket selling, buying ... AND WINNING!

So remember, when those 50/50 ticket hawkers come around at the Davenport RiverCenter, set aside some money for some wingspan purchases, your best chance. There has to be better odds than winning that much in a lottery.

ADDENDUM to the PREPARTY TICKET SALES -- If you have a Havana Daydreamin' event ticket that does not include the PreParty (or if you are at a reserved table that does not include the PreParty option) but would like to ADD that to your day's fun on Feb. 1, you need to email treasurer Kathleen Nesseler at kger777@msn.com by Monday. That PreParty ticket addition would be just $5. Arrangements for payment/ticket pickup can be made with her.
This is important because there will be no PreParty ticket sales after Monday (because a food order must be placed). The HDD-only ticket will not get you into the PreParty. Ticket sales for the PreParty have been brisk, and already are nearly 100 over last year's PreParty event.

IMPORTANT HDD PREPARTY NEWS -- There are just 3 days remaining to purchase tickets! We need a final PreParty ticket number because food is being ordered and that means Monday morning.

Tickets are just $5 with the purchase of a $20 HDD event ticket. (this is $10 cheaper than in past years!) You must have an HDD event ticket to go to the PreParty.

The PreParty is from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Davenport RiverCenter (No walking a block in cold weather this year to get to the PreParty! Yeah!!) Tall Paul and Quincy Yeates will perform from 1 to 2 and Jim Hoehn from 2 to 5.

The food will be: Wings from Buffalo Wild Wings, AND ... From the Culinary Kids (a past QCPH charity) -- mini-meatballs in sauce, fresh fruit, Italian antipasto, spinach artichoke dip with bagel chips, and for dessert - cannoli, baklava, creampuffs.

    Good Morning Phlock,

I just wanted to say that if you didn't go to the 10th anniversary party for our club  you missed a really good time. We had lots of food, played some fun games, had several raffle  items, music, drinks, birthday cake, with the white elephant gift exchange too, it was a good time had by all. After all it was for you, our members of this club, so like I said it really was a great time. I want to again thank Jan & Todd Haugen for all they did to put this together, with the help from, Marilyn & Craig Pulford, and Lisa & Dwayne Crandall. A party like this really does take some time and effort and with all that they did I think they deserve a SOCIAL so next time you have a drink make sure you raise your glass and give a big shout out " SOCIAL ".  I want to also give a shout out to Chris Ivey who was taking preorders for hooded sweatshirts with the saying " I wanna go where it's warm " and volunteer T-shirts for HDD and also to  Laurie McCune and the merchandise she was selling as well. The gift exchange couldn't have happened without our own Marc Nesseler, that was fun to watch and for those who  participated I hope you enjoy the gifts. The food was provided by Sal from Goombazz which   was awesome, by the way. Anyway, it was a great time. We had some pictures taken and I will try to get them on the web site or FB this weekend too.

I want to mention that our club won not one but two awards from the Festival of Trees parade. We won the best float award and the best holiday cheer award too. Thank you for everyone   who helped put this together and walked in the parade, I know it was brutal.

Don't forget to purchase your HDD tickets either on line or at all QC local HyVee stores. It's coming up fast, I hope you're getting excited about it! I can't wait to get that party started!

This Sat. we are going to look at rebuilding the large boat of the stage props starting at 9 at the clubhouse if anyone is interested in helping out. We could certainly use the help.

I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year too.

    Willy Fink
    QCPH President
