October 11 - Rebuilding QC Together
Calling all Parrot Heads, we are sponsoring a house to paint
4-5 rooms inside for Rebuilding Together Quad Cities.
We need 15-20 volunteers for this project. The work day is
scheduled for Oct. 11th so we need any interested people to
get on the work day list.
Rebuilding Together Quad Cities' mission is working together
to rebuild homes, communities and lives. They work to unite people
of all backgrounds in a voluntary effort to provide home
repairs for the elderly, disabled and low-income homeowners at no cost.
This is our first project with Rebuilding Together Quad Cities
and I would like to see a good outcome of volunteers
to support this much needed Quad City organization.

October 18 - Feeding Frenzy #1
Ridgewood Tower, 545 42nd Avenue, East Moline
Once again the club will be participating in World Hunger Day
in our own way by serving a meal to the residents of Ridgewood
Towers in Moline. A little background is in order. A couple of years ago, our
parent organization, PHIP, encouraged all the clubs to participate in World
Hunger Day. In ParrotHead fashion, they called it “Feeding Frenzy”.
QCPH participated by serving meals to residents of retirement homes.
To spread the fun, we chose one on the Illinois side, and one in Iowa.
These events have been very successful and the residents truly enjoy
it and are very appreciative. The club has continued the tradition since
then and will do so again this year. The first one will be on October 18
at Ridgewood Towers in Moline. The menu will be simple: Cheeseburgers
(of course!), a couple of side dishes, and dessert! Rumor has it that the
elderly really like pie! Jean Smith will be chairing this event and we would
like someone to co-chair with her. We will need people to help serve
and cleanup. Please contact Jean to volunteer for this event. If you
cannot volunteer to help but would still like to help, we would be
happy to accept donations of supplies: pop, table settings, chips, etc.

October 22 - Club Business Meeting

October 25 - Feeding Frenzy #2
Luther Manor, 3118 Devils Glen Road, Bettendorf
Volunteers meeting at 3:30 guest arriving at 5:00 - although every
year we have residents already sitting at their tables 'saving' their
spots before we even get there!! Please contact Christine Martinez to
volunteer for this event. If you cannot volunteer to help but would still
like to help, we would be happy to accept donations of supplies: pop,
table settings, chips, etc. Again, please contact Christine and
she can provide more details.

October 29 - Club Social
6:00 P.M. at the River House, 1510 River Dr., Moline
We will be collecting mittens. We'll also be accepting
donations for the HDD silent auction.
